EWSC Enabling Actions
Climate-Resilient Gardens
Creating climate-resilient gardens in new housing developments: using smarter planting, design and soil to create gardens resilient to floods and drought.
Project Description
Climate resilient gardens require less irrigation during summer, remain functional and flood-resistant in winter, and support biodiversity.
EWSC is seeking to transform residential landscapes by scoping a potential climate-resilient garden accreditation scheme for new developments. This has included a homebuyer survey to explore public interest in climate resilient gardens and a workshop with developers, garden specialists and landscape architects. Our research demonstrates strong public support.
