All English water companies now offer environmental incentive payments for developers to build homes that consume less water than that required by building regulations. Unfortunately, uptake has been low and awareness among key stakeholders like local authorities is minimal.

The projects below attempt to address that by providing a an easy-to-access source of information relating to environmental incentive payments.

Environmental Incentives: Standardisation across the water sector to deliver water smart housing

A collaborative review of the current Environmental Incentives proposed by Water Companies has been undertaken, to agree on a standardised set of incentives applicable across UK’s Water Sector. The key assumption is that standardisation will promote uptake of incentives.

This new report from EWSC is an attempt to simplify the environmental incentive offering across the sector, by compiling all the environmental incentive offerings into this single document in a table format as well as providing a two-page summary of each, which follows a common structure.
