EWSC Webinar | Water ledger technology

Welcome to the Enabling Water Smart Communities Autumn 2025 Webinar Series. This webinar series will offer a chance to take a closer look at some of the recent projects and outputs from the Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC) project.

This webinar will focus on the recent EWSC output that explores the impact of distributed ledger technology on incentivising water smart communities.

Join us to hear about the top three opportunities identified at a recent workshop on how distributed ledger technology can be used to incentivise water smart communities. Ledger tokens have the potential to build trust, transparency, immutability and independence. Dr Fraser MacLeod, Chief Product Officer at Water Ledger Global will provide his perspective on how we can overcome the thorny issues and bring these ideas to life.

Confirmed Speakers:

  • Rebecca Radford | EWSC Project Manager | Anglian Water

  • Vikki Williams | Digital Market Leader, Water | Arup

  • Dr Fraser MacLeod | Chief Product Officer | Water Ledger Global

EWSC Webinar | Impacts of water conservation on sewer systems

Welcome to the Enabling Water Smart Communities Autumn 2025 Webinar Series. This webinar series will offer a chance to take a closer look at some of the recent projects and outputs from the Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC) project.

This webinar will focus on one of our recent reports, which looks into the impacts of water conservation on sewerage systems.

Webinar Content

  • Background: Overview of how water conservation may influence sewer system performance.

  • Review of the concept: Key hydraulic and operational impacts (including reduced flow velocities, increased sedimentation, and changes in wastewater composition).

  • Assessment approach: Introduction to the tools developed: PySimdeum wastewater for modelling wastewater discharge, and the Rapid Assessment Tool for evaluating impacts of water conservation.

  • Demonstration: Presentation of the developed tools and example applications.

  • Conclusion & next steps: Summary of findings and planned next phase (developing design criteria for low flow drinking water and sewer networks).

Confirmed Speakers

  • Catherine Moncrieff | Head of Policy & Engagement | CIWEM

  • Dejan Vernon | Energy Technical Manager | Thames Water

  • Ljiljana Zlatanovic | Senior Digital Water Consultant | Arup

  • Olivia Bailey | Senior Digital Water Consultant | Arup

  • Reuben Vandenberg Dodt | Senior Process Engineer | WSP

EWSC Webinar | Bridging the skills gap for water reuse

Welcome to the Enabling Water Smart Communities Autumn 2025 Webinar Series. This webinar series will offer a chance to take a closer look at some of the recent projects and outputs from the Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC) project.

This webinar will focus on the recently published EWSC report 'Bridging the skills gap for water reuse in the UK', developed in collaboration with Waterwise.

This report identifies that current workforce and supply chain capabilities are insufficient to meet projected demand for water reuse schemes, which are essential for tackling water scarcity and supporting housing growth – but there is action that can be taken to fill this skills gap.

This will be an opportunity to hear more about the report's key findings, as well as offering a chance to hear from those involved in putting the report together.

Currently confirmed speakers:

  • Jo Osborn | Deputy Head of Policy and Research | Waterwise

  • Rebecca Radford | EWSC Project Manager | Anglian Water

  • Darren Eckford | Director of Learning & Organisational Development | CIWEM

EWSC Webinar | Water Reuse Safety Plan

Welcome to the Enabling Water Smart Communities Autumn 2025 Webinar Series. This webinar series will offer a chance to take a closer look at some of the recent projects and outputs from the Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC) project.

This webinar will focus on the upcoming EWSC output ‘Water Reuse Safety Plan (WRSP)’, which consists of a draft report and template. The aim of the report is to help practitioners of reuse water systems to begin compiling a safety plan for such a system and to provide templates and a methodology that will help them get started.

This will be an opportunity to learn about the concept of Water Reuse Safety Plans (WRSP) and the best practice when drawing up a WRSP, and it will also feature a WRSP template worked-example. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the session.

Currently confirmed speakers:

  • Sian Hills | Water reuse consultant | SHSWS

  • Vikki Williams | Digital Market Leader, Water | Arup

  • Catherine Moncrieff | Head of Policy & Engagement | CIWEM

EWSC Webinar | Water Efficiency and Reuse in Housing

Welcome to the Enabling Water Smart Communities Autumn 2025 Webinar Series. This webinar series will offer a chance to take a closer look at some of the recent projects and outputs from the Enabling Water Smart Communities (EWSC) project.

This webinar will focus on the recently published 'Water Efficiency and Reuse in Housing: Design Guide for a Changing Climate', developed in collaboration with the Good Homes Alliance.

Developed for architects, developers, planners, and housing associations, the guide provides case studies, best practice, and industry insight to respond to the urgent need for water smart housing, due to mounting water stress in the UK.

This webinar offers an opportunity to explore some of the guide's topics in greater detail, as well as to hear from those involved in its production. There will also be a short Q&A session.

Currently confirmed speakers:

  • Dr. Tom Dollard | Partner, Sustainability and Innovation | Pollard Thomas Edwards

  • Katie Lawrence | Programme Manager – EWSC | Anglian Water

  • Richard Broad | Project & Communications Manager | Good Homes Alliance
